What this solution does
The '5 Corners. User Notification Management' module enables portal administrators to centrally configure notifications for employees. You can select a single individual, an entire department, or a working group, open the page, and work with a copy of the personal notification settings page: mark the required options and save the changes. Employees do not need to perform any actions themselves, and administrators do not need to explain over the phone where to find these checkboxes in the messenger.
This solution is particularly useful when issuing a corporate set of notifications to new employees, when a department is overwhelmed with emails and no one understands the settings, when aligning notifications across a subdivision after reorganization, or when quickly checking why a specific person is not receiving notifications.
Recipient configuration capabilities
Selection is performed via the standard company search using photos, as well as by name and job title. You can select individual employees, departments, and working groups in any combination. When a department is selected, all its subdepartments are automatically included: selecting 'Sales' also includes 'Sales/Regions'. This eliminates the need to manually count how many people are affected.
The 'User Notification Management' module automatically excludes terminated employees from the list and displays their count. If a department contains only deactivated employees, the system shows a specific message instead of an empty screen.
Configuration capabilities
The functionality fully replicates the personal notification page, including message management, work mode selection, and the use of simple or advanced schemes. Each notification type can be configured for delivery channels: portal, email, push notifications in the mobile app, and Jabber. The list of notification types is built automatically based on modules installed on the portal, such as CRM, tasks, feed, calendar, disk, business processes, and others. When a new module is installed, its notifications automatically appear in the list without requiring solution modifications. Only channels that are actually functioning on the portal are displayed. The system supports group markings to enable or disable an entire channel at once for a whole group of notifications.
Behavior with user groups
The system clearly indicates where settings differ among users. If a notification is enabled for one selected employee but disabled for another, the corresponding checkbox is displayed as semi-transparent, immediately signaling a discrepancy rather than a uniform value.
Only the settings you explicitly toggle are saved. Opening a department section and clicking Save does not force-align parameters for all employees; items you did not touch remain unchanged for each user individually.
A semi-transparent checkbox disables notifications for all employees with the first click and enables them only with the second click. This is intentional to prevent accidentally sending notifications to an entire department, as such an error is considered more critical than accidentally disabling notifications.
The Cancel button restores the form to the state that was loaded before editing, without reloading the page or resetting the selected list of employees.
Working with large departments does not freeze the interface: settings are loaded and saved in chunks with a progress indicator displayed.
The system provides a transparent warning about the application scheme: if part of the selected employees already uses this scheme, the solution will beforehand show how many of them will not be affected by point changes, and will repeat this information in the report after saving.
How it works
The software solution does not store copies of settings or replace them with its own data. It reads and writes information directly to the standard storage of the Messenger module. As a result, employees see exactly the parameters set by the administrator, and there are no discrepancies between the control panel and the employee's personal section. The solution does not create its own tables in the database.
Limitations
The 'User Notification Management' module by 5 Corners is designed for bulk processing of notification settings in the on-premise version of Bitrix24. The system processes up to 500 employees in a single operation. However, targeted changes to notification types cannot be applied to employees using the simplified settings scheme, which is an inherent feature of the Bitrix24 architecture. The module proactively warns the user about the number of affected employees with this scheme.
System requirements:
— On-premise version of Bitrix24.
— Installed 'Messenger' module with the modern notification settings system.
— PHP version 8.2 or higher.
— Database systems: MySQL or PostgreSQL.
