What this solution does
The IDETA Backup and Change Log module enables instant restoration of deleted or modified data, such as product cards, news items, or page text, without involving a programmer or deploying a full site backup. Before any change or deletion of an information block element or page, the module automatically creates a copy and records in the log who made the change and exactly what was modified, for example: "Name: was → became" or "Color property: White → Black". Any change recorded in the log can be reverted with a single click.
Backup copies of information block elements are created automatically before each change and deletion. All fields, section links, properties of all types, images, and files are preserved. Files are physically copied and remain accessible even if the Bitrix system deletes the original.
The number of stored states is configurable from 1 to 100 per element; identical consecutive states are not duplicated. The module supports backing up either all information blocks or only selected ones. A mass backup feature allows creating a snapshot of the current state of all information block elements with a single click.
Data restoration is performed via a copy window that displays backup data alongside current data, with modified fields highlighted. Reversion can be executed in one click from the list of copies, the copy window, or the log.
The module supports batch operations: reverting the latest or second-to-last change, or restoring the oldest copy for multiple elements at once. Completely deleted elements are restored in full. If an entire information block or block type is deleted, the module automatically recreates it along with its properties and list values. The restoration process is reversible: the current state is saved as a copy before the operation begins.
Page and include block copies are created when editing via the administrative section, the Hermitage system, and the visual editor. The public panel features an "Undo Changes" button that displays a list of the current page's copies with dates and authors. Deleted pages are restored if copies exist. The change log records who made changes, when, and what was modified. For elements, it shows a list of fields and properties with the transition from old to new values. The log row includes "View" and "Revert" buttons. Filters are available by date, user, information block, element, and page. The history of a specific element can be opened in one click from the copy list. Old records are automatically cleaned up. The functionality applies only to manual changes.
IDETA: Backups and Change Log
Exchange with 1C, XML/CSV imports, cron tasks, and console scripts do not clutter the change log or displace manually created backups. Individual users, groups (such as the 1C exchange user), and any scripts can be excluded from logging.
Access levels are separated: viewing backups and the log is distinct from permissions to restore and configure.
Module errors do not prevent website data from being saved. Errors are intercepted and displayed in the self-diagnostic tool.
A built-in check allows you to determine why an element was not added to the log by its ID.
The following are not backed up: catalog prices and stock levels, element SEO settings, business processes, document management, and file changes made via FTP, SSH, or git.
Requirements: PHP 8.2 or higher, main module version 23.0.0 or higher, Information Blocks module, MySQL or MariaDB databases.
General iT can install “IDETA: Backups and Change Log”, configure its settings and verify its operation in the existing project.
