The module automates image compression on the website in accordance with Google PageSpeed Insights recommendations. It supports integration via CDN OptiPic, allowing optimization without modifying image URLs. The main advantage of CDN integration is the automatic conversion of images to the modern WebP format to minimize file size. Browsers that support WebP receive images in that format.

Browsers without WebP support (such as iOS devices) receive the original PNG or JPEG files, but already compressed. The WebP format was developed specifically for websites and combines the advantages of both PNG and JPEG, enabling correct conversion of both image types. Using WebP helps the site meet the Google PageSpeed Insights requirement to use modern image formats.
The WebP format provides image compression, reducing page load times. This improves user experience and can positively influence search engine rankings.
Integration via CDN adds the following capabilities:
- Caching images to accelerate delivery.
- Automatic adaptation of graphics for mobile devices.
The module allows reducing image sizes on the site by up to 98%.
The OptiPic module provides image optimization and conversion to WebP format for content management systems based on Bitrix. The tool compresses graphic files, which accelerates web page loading and reduces the load on the server or hosting. Optimization contributes to improved Google Pagespeed Insights scores, better search engine rankings, and increased conversion rates. Additionally, it results in disk space savings.
The module scans the entire site to locate PNG and JPEG images, including those outside the upload folder, and proceeds to compress them. Two compression modes are supported: a manual mode to process all unsaved images at once, and a background mode where an agent runs every five minutes to handle a batch of unsaved images. The number of images processed per background step is configurable in the module settings. Compression quality is adjustable via the settings.
The module supports automatic image resizing if configured. Resizing triggers automatically when an image's width or height exceeds the maximum dimensions defined in the module settings. Upon installation, 10 MB of quota is provided on the OptiPic.io service for testing. To continue compressing images after the trial quota is exhausted, a paid package must be selected on the OptiPic.io platform.
The OptiPic module provides automatic image optimization and conversion to the WebP format. Upon installation, an account on the OptiPic.io platform is created automatically. If you need to link an existing account, enter your login and password during the setup process.
New users receive a free allowance of up to 200 MB for image processing. For PHP-based websites with an inactive 1C-Bitrix license, a universal module alternative is available.
Image optimization is the process of compressing a file to reduce its size in bytes while preserving visual quality. Processing algorithms remove service metadata (such as the software name used) and optimize the color palette by merging similar shades. The resulting image is visually indistinguishable from the original, yet its file size is significantly reduced. Proper processing can decrease image size by 70–98% without noticeable quality loss.
OptiPic provides automation for image optimization and conversion to WebP format. The system processes both existing images on the site and new files added in the future. All operations run automatically in the background without user intervention.
Optimized images are stored on the server while the original URL addresses remain unchanged. The module integrates easily with any PHP-based website, including custom-developed solutions.
No system administration or programming skills are required for installation and use. OptiPic operates on standard hosting environments without the need for a VPS or dedicated server. The system imposes no limits on the volume or size of processed images.
Technical support is available in Russian. Connection assistance is provided free of charge, and there are no monthly subscription fees.
