What this solution does
The 'Flashing Tab' module changes the browser tab title and favicon when a visitor switches to another tab, helping to gently draw their attention back to the site.
When the page loses focus, the module can replace the favicon, enable flashing, change the tab title, or alternate between two specified phrases. Upon the visitor's return, the original page title is restored. Optionally, a separate temporary title can be displayed immediately after the return.
In a multi-site setup, settings are configured individually for each site. The module's operation can be restricted to specific pages or excluded from certain sections of the site.
Key features:
- Tab title change when the page becomes inactive.
- Single phrase mode or alternating between two phrases.
- Configurable title change interval.
- Separate title displayed upon tab return.
- Favicon replacement when the user leaves the tab.
- Flashing between the original and new icon.
- Configurable flashing interval.
- Built-in favicon options.
- Upload custom favicon files in SVG, PNG, and ICO formats.
The 'Flashing Tab' module allows configuring the tab title and favicon separately for each site. Module operation can be restricted to specific pages or excluded from certain ones using the '*' mask in rules. The administrative interface provides a preview of the tab title and active icon state.
This solution is effective for online stores needing to remind users about the cart or catalog, as well as for corporate sites, landing pages, and promotional pages. It suits websites with personal accounts, order forms, and request forms, helping increase tab visibility without external services.
In the module settings, you can choose the target of change: both title and icon, title only, or icon only. For the title, available modes include a fixed phrase, alternating between two phrases, and a separate title when the user returns to the tab. For the icon, options include simple replacement, flashing between the original and new icon, selecting a built-in variant, or uploading a custom file.
The page restriction functionality allows activating the module only on specific sections or, conversely, excluding it from certain pages.
When the list of allowed pages is empty, the module applies to all public pages of the site except those specified in the exclusion list. The exclusion list takes precedence over the allowed pages list.
Settings are available in two sections of the admin panel: «Marketing → Flashing Tab» and «Settings → Product Settings → Module Settings → Flashing Tab».
