Cursor Management

What this solution does

The Cursor Management module allows customization of the mouse pointer appearance for various interface states: links, buttons, text fields, wait, move, and resize. Administrators can upload custom cursor graphic files without modifying the frontend code. This solution is suitable for promo pages, thematic projects, seasonal campaigns, and branded interfaces requiring precise visual adjustments without complex development.

Configuration supports a global profile for the entire site, as well as separate local profiles for selected resources in a multisite configuration. Each profile includes application rules by page and section, allowing administrators to specify where the cursor applies and set exclusions for specific URLs.

A separate file can be uploaded for each cursor role. The module supports Hotspot X/Y coordinate settings to precisely position the active center of the image. If the browser cannot apply the custom file, a fallback CSS style is used.

The administrative panel features live preview and automatic diagnostics for uploaded files, enabling immediate evaluation of the result and identification of potential compatibility issues.

The module functionality includes the ability to enable or disable the module via the administrative section. It supports creating a global cursor profile for the entire site, as well as local profiles for individual resources. Profile distribution is controlled by pages, sections, or URL masks. A list of exceptions is also provided where specified profiles are not applied.

For each interface role, a single custom cursor file can be uploaded, and the hotspot coordinates (Hotspot X/Y) can be configured. Limitations exist for touch devices, tablets, and minimum screen width.

The module supports cursor configuration for the following states:

- Default cursor;

- Links and buttons;

- Text fields;

- Move;

- Wait;

- Help;

- Not allowed;

- Horizontal and vertical resize;

- Diagonal resize NWSE;

- Diagonal resize NESW.

For maximum compatibility, the .cur file format is recommended.

The module supports uploading cursor files in .ani, .ico, .png, .gif, .svg, and .webp formats. Actual support depends on the user's browser and operating system. Support for the .ani format is particularly limited, so providing a fallback CSS style is strongly recommended.

Configuration is available in two sections of the admin panel: Marketing → Cursor Management, and Settings → Product Settings → Module Settings → Cursor Management.
