What this solution does
The Canonical URLs module for 1C-Bitrix provides centralized management of rel="canonical" markup. The tool automatically generates canonical links based on the current URL, supports manual rule assignment for specific pages, sections, and address templates, and allows configuring behavior separately for each site.
The solution inserts the canonical address into the page HTML code and, when necessary, into the HTTP header. This helps minimize the risk of content duplication, correctly handle URL parameters, filters, pagination, and differences between domains, www/non-www prefixes, and HTTP/HTTPS protocols. The product is suitable for online stores, content portals, and corporate sites built on the 1C-Bitrix platform.
Administrators manage settings via a dedicated section in the control panel. Available features include checking the canonical link for any URL, importing and exporting configuration in CSV format, maintaining separate settings for different sites, and tracking the history of rule changes.
Key capabilities:
- Automatic generation of the rel="canonical" tag for pages without explicit manual rules.
The Canonical URLs module outputs the canonical tag in HTML code and optionally in the HTTP header. It allows creating manual rules with settings for activation status, sorting, site binding, matching mode, and target address. Separate configurations are available for each domain in multi-site projects.
Built-in URL normalization handles the HTTPS protocol, www prefix, trailing slash presence, index.php parameter, and domain name case. GET parameter management includes automatic removal of UTM tags and other technical data, configuration of a list of preserved parameters, and clearing of empty values. The module supports policies for pagination and filtered pages.
The canonical source can be defined via page properties, information block elements, or custom section fields. The system restricts the use of external domains and allows creating a whitelist of permitted addresses. System directories and 404 error pages are excluded.
Diagnostic tools allow checking the final canonical for a specific URL, auditing rules, and analyzing the sitemap. Settings and rules can be imported or exported in CSV format. A log tracks all changes to canonical rules.
The module addresses tasks such as eliminating duplicate pages in search indexing, configuring canonical links for pages with filters, sorting, and UTM tags, and centrally managing canonical links across multi-site projects.
The module provides control over results before publishing changes and maintains a history of edits to canonical URL rules. Management is available in the Services → Canonical URLs section or in the Settings → Product Settings → Module Settings → Canonical URLs section.
