What this solution does

DeepL Glossary is an add-on for the Bitrix Multi-language module: Info-blocks in different languages (bxproger.translator). It extends automatic translation via DeepL by allowing you to define specific terms and their required translations. Once the glossary is synchronized with DeepL, these terms are automatically applied during content translation.

The module is implemented separately because it requires dedicated configuration, synchronization, and maintenance. It is not required for the basic operation of the Multi-language module and is intended for users who need precise terminology control in automated translations.

Neural networks handle general text well but often struggle with brand names, article numbers, product line titles, legal terms, and industry-specific jargon. Inconsistent translations of the same product across languages (e.g., EN, FR, DE) can damage catalog quality, SEO performance, and user trust. DeepL Glossary locks in correct term pairs and passes them through the DeepL API during the automatic translation process.

Key capabilities:

- Maintain glossaries for specific language pairs (source language to target language)

- Add an unlimited number of terms in the format 'source term + required translation'

- Enable or disable specific language pairs and individual terms

The module enables one-click synchronization of a local glossary with the DeepL service and automatically connects this dictionary to the Translator auto-translation engine without requiring template modifications. This solution is designed for online stores and catalogs requiring precision in brand names, SKUs, and collection titles. It is also suitable for B2B and industrial sectors for handling specifications, models, and standards, as well as for legal and medical content with fixed terminology. The tool is beneficial for multilingual corporate sites maintaining a consistent brand voice and for mass auto-translation via DeepL when standard translation accuracy is insufficient.

Key features include an administrative interface named 'DeepL Glossary' within the Multilingual menu. Users can manage language pairs and term lists, configuring their activity and sorting order. The system synchronizes with DeepL, preserving the Glossary ID and the date of the last synchronization. When an active synchronized pair is enabled, Translator automatically routes requests through DeepL while applying glossary rules. Active pairs are cached to ensure fast performance during batch translation. All terms are stored in the module's dedicated ORM tables.

The solution offers the advantage of not complicating the Translator core, allowing installation only when necessary. It provides a unified dictionary for all auto-translation scenarios, including elements, sections, properties, and high-level objects where Translator interacts with DeepL.

The module enables content managers to control term glossaries without manually editing API keys for each request. It is compatible with an already configured multilingual system and existing DeepL quotas. Scalability is supported: a separate pair of settings is created for each translation direction (for example, Russian to English or English to French).

Important: this add-on does not replace the main Translator module and is not a standalone translator. Without an installed and configured Multilingual module connected to the DeepL service, the glossary functionality will not work. The glossary affects only automatic translation via DeepL; manual text corrections in the translation mode within the admin panel remain the user's responsibility.
