What this solution does

The 'Bookmarks in Business Process Designer' module extends the functionality of the standard 'Bitrix24' business process designer by introducing a system of named bookmarks with comments.

The Context Loss Problem

In complex templates containing dozens of blocks, the context of decisions is often lost over time. It becomes unclear why a specific block is configured a certain way, who made changes and when, or why parameters are set to their current values. During collaborative work, this issue intensifies: team members see colleagues' changes but do not understand the underlying rationale. New employees opening a complex process often fail to grasp the logic and inadvertently break previously established solutions.

How the Module Solves This

The module allows any user with edit rights for a business process template to add a text bookmark to any block in the scheme. The system automatically records the author, date, and time of creation. Bookmarks are stored centrally and shared among all users with access to the template, enabling every team member to view colleagues' notes directly within the designer interface.

The bookmarks module in the business process designer enables quick navigation to marked blocks via a general list in the header. Selecting a bookmark triggers automatic page scrolling to the target block, visual highlighting of the block, and display of the comment text.

Module capabilities:

1. A bookmark button (star icon ★) is available on every block of the business process template.

2. The bookmark creation window auto-fills the title with the author's name and date/time; the comment field supports up to 1000 characters.

3. A 'Bookmarks' tab in the designer header contains a dropdown list of all bookmarks for the current template.

4. The list is sorted by creation date with new items at the top, displaying the author, date, and comment for each entry.

5. Navigating to a bookmark automatically scrolls the page to the corresponding block, applies a brief green border animation, and shows a comment tooltip next to the block.

6. Deletion permissions: authors can remove only their own bookmarks, while portal administrators can delete any bookmarks.

The module operates exclusively within the client's corporate portal. It does not send network requests outside the portal domain, does not interact with external APIs, and does not transmit data to third-party services. No additional external service connections or payments are required.

Installation and removal are performed via the standard 'Marketplace Solutions' mechanism in the Bitrix24 admin panel, requiring portal administrator rights. No additional configuration is needed after installation; the functionality is automatically activated on all business process designer pages. Any user with rights to edit business process templates can use the module; no technical training is required.

No third-party modules are required. The only dependency is the standard 'Business Processes' (bizproc) module, which is included in Bitrix24 on 'Professional' plans and higher.

System requirements:

- Bitrix24 boxed edition ('Corporate Portal' or 'Enterprise' editions);

- Minimum plan: 'Professional' or higher;

- PHP version 8.1 or above.

The module is compatible with MySQL and PostgreSQL databases and supports multi-site configurations. The source code (PHP, JavaScript, CSS) is fully open and contains no obfuscated parts, allowing for independent verification.

Functional limitations:

- The maximum bookmark title length is 200 characters.

- The maximum comment length is 1,000 characters.

- A single business process template supports up to 100 bookmarks. When adding a 101st bookmark, the system automatically removes the oldest one.

- The tool operates exclusively within the entity business process designer (CRM, lists, information blocks) and on the classic administrative page /bitrix/admin/bizproc_workflow_edit.php. The current version does not support the CRM automation designer (robots) or triggers.

- Functionality is available only in the desktop version of the administrative interface; it is not supported in the Bitrix24 mobile applications.

The 'Bookmarks in Business Process Designer' module contains no in-app purchases, paid options, or premium features. All capabilities described on this page are available immediately after installation without additional payments. The solution does not rely on external paid services.
