What this solution does
The Redirector module manages visitor redirections between pages on a website. Its operation relies on rules configured by the site administrator or an SEO specialist.
The module is useful when migrating from an old CMS to Bitrix to preserve link equity, restructuring site sections or an online store catalog, or removing pages and sections. Its automatic mode creates redirects independently when product page URLs are frequently changed during editing.
The tool supports configuring redirects for HTTPS, standardizing the domain (with or without www), appending slashes to addresses, and designating a primary domain among several.
Capabilities:
Administrators or SEO specialists can create an unlimited number of redirect rules in a visual interface within the site control panel.
Multisite support allows rules to be bound to one or multiple sites simultaneously. When visiting a specific site, only the redirects configured for that site are checked.
Multiple rules can be processed sequentially to form a single redirect.
The Redirector module by developer Techdirector is designed for creating and managing SEO redirects. The system can merge chains of rules into a single transition. For instance, if there is a rule redirecting from a catalog page to a store page and another rule redirecting from a secondary domain to a main domain, a visitor accessing a page on the www subdomain of the secondary domain will receive a direct transition to the final address of the main domain. The module automatically processes all intermediate steps, eliminating the need for multiple redirects.
Built-in functions allow for quick setup of standard scenarios:
- unification of the domain with or without the www prefix;
- removal or preservation of the index.php filename at the end of the address;
- normalization of the presence or absence of a trailing slash in the path;
- forced transition between http and https protocols in both directions;
- removal of multiple slashes from the URL.
Conditions for address verification can include the protocol, domain name, page path, and query parameters. Rules can be set based on the user's geographic location: by city, region, or country. Each rule can be enabled or disabled with a single checkbox, and its action can be limited to a specific date range. For complex scenarios, user-defined functions are available: one checks if the current address matches the rules, and the other determines the final transition address.
The Redirector module enables importing redirect rules from Excel files or pasting them directly from the clipboard.
The built-in testing mode allows you to enter any site URL to preview which redirects will be applied.
The transition log records all rule triggers, including visitor data, IP addresses, and the specific conditions that initiated the redirect.
The system automatically registers server 404 errors, helping to identify broken links and quickly create rules to redirect them to valid pages.
Debug mode disables actual redirects. Instead, administrators see in the site header information about which rule should have triggered on the current page.
Matching conditions support exact matches, substring checks, and regular expressions.
The automatic mode monitors changes to section and information block element URLs during any editing attempts, ensuring redirect rules remain up to date.
The Redirector module automatically manages SEO redirects when infoblock structures change. If fields affecting an element's URL are edited, the module creates a redirect from the old address to the new one. Changes to section addresses are handled similarly, generating redirects for the section itself, all sub-sections, and nested elements. When an element is deleted, a redirect is created to its parent section; when a section is deleted, all internal sub-sections and items are redirected to the parent section. Adding a new element or section automatically disables any previously created automatic redirects originating from that address. The automatic mode is configured per infoblock and operates without administrator intervention, handling creation, editing, and deletion events in real time. The module supports the following HTTP status codes.
The module allows configuring various HTTP response types to manage page redirection. Code 301 means the resource is permanently moved to a new URL and is cached by the browser. Code 302 denotes a temporary move, which is also cached. Response 303 indicates that the result is available at a new address but is not cached. Code 307 is used for short-term redirection with caching. Code 410 signals that the page at the specified address has been removed.
If “Redirector — a module for creating SEO redirects” fits the task, General iT can install the module, configure it and verify the result in the project.
