The module automatically merges site mirrors by redirecting requests from the www subdomain to the non-www address and vice versa. It also manages protocol switching, ensuring automatic transitions between the HTTP protocol and the HTTPS protocol, including for secure connection redirection.
The URL normalization feature automatically adds a slash to the end of an address, removes the index.php filename, and eliminates repeated slashes. For example, the path //news///index.php is converted to /news/.
Users can create an arbitrary number of 301 or 302 redirect rules for individual URLs or entire sections. Each rule supports PCRE regular expression patterns in the From field with substitution variables such as $1 or $2 in the To field. For instance, the pattern #^/catalog/(.*)$# can be transformed into /new-catalog/$1/.
Flexible handling of URL parameters is available for each rule: the ignore query string option can be disabled to redirect addresses containing specific GET parameters. The module also automatically redirects non-existent pages (404 errors) to the parent section.
Redirect management is handled through a dedicated administrative page featuring a list of rules displayed in a table with columns for Source, Destination, Response Code, and Site. Adding, editing, and deleting entries requires only a few clicks.
The system supports multi-site architecture, allowing redirect settings and lists to be configured and stored separately for each individual site.
The module operates without requiring any changes to the source code. All management functions are accessible exclusively through the administrative panel.
