Element Change Log PRO

What this solution does

A module for the 1C-Bitrix Site Management system that provides comprehensive auditing of changes to infoblock elements. It records who made changes, when they occurred, and exactly what data was modified. The solution includes all functionality of the free 'Element Change Log' module.

This tool is essential when multiple staff members, such as editors, managers, or administrators, work on the same site. It automatically answers questions regarding who changed a specific product, news item, or section, and what exact edits were made. Configuration is required only upon installation; the system begins tracking changes across all site infoblocks immediately without additional setup.

After installation, the module's control panel is accessible via the path Service -> Element Change Log PRO.

For each change, the system records the following details:

Date and time of the event.

The user who made the edit — the login is a clickable link leading directly to that user's edit page.

The action type: adding, modifying, or deleting an element.

The name of the infoblock where the change occurred.

The name of the modified element — the link leads directly to its edit page.

A detailed description of the changes made.

The ITDON Change History Pro module provides comprehensive auditing of actions performed on infoblock elements. The recovery function allows restoring deleted or modified records. The 'Change Description' section offers detailed information: when an element is created, all properties with assigned values are listed; when an element is modified, the difference between the old and new state is displayed for each field line by line; when an element is deleted, the element name and infoblock identifier are preserved in the log even if the object no longer exists in the system.

The log list supports filtering by infoblock ID, user login, and action type. Sorting is available for any column by clicking the header. Log entries can be deleted individually or in batches using checkboxes and the 'Delete Selected' command. This capability is restricted to users with full access to the module.

Module settings are accessible via the 'Settings' gear icon in the administrator module list. The 'Keep log entries for, days' parameter defines the retention period. Specifying a numeric value triggers automatic deletion of old entries once daily. A value of 0 indicates indefinite storage without automatic cleanup.

The module allows excluding specific users from the change log. You can select one or more administrators whose actions will not be recorded. This is useful, for example, when a technical administrator regularly updates content via a service script and such actions do not require tracking.

The PRO version is a separate module installed independently of the standard version. Both versions can run on the same site simultaneously. The main feature of the PRO version is the ability not only to display the change history but also to restore elements to their previous state.

In the log, every row with an action labeled "Change" or "Delete" includes a "Restore" button. Clicking it returns the element to the values recorded immediately before the change. The restoration covers the title, activity status, sorting order, symbolic code, section, summary, detailed description, images, and property values. The button can be pressed multiple times, each time applying the same saved values.

When an element is deleted, it is recreated with all values preserved but receives a new unique identifier. Restoring the original ID using standard infoblock tools is impossible. After restoration, the element name in the log row becomes a clickable link to the edit page of the new object, while the button is hidden to prevent duplicate creation. When a new element is added, the restore button is absent because there is no previous state to revert to.

The restoration event is recorded as a separate change in the log. For a recreated element, the 'Change Description' field will state 'Element restored' rather than 'Element created' to clearly distinguish this action from standard user creation.

The restore function is available only to users with full access to the module.

PRO Version Features

The default log retention period is 14 days. In the standard version, the log is stored indefinitely until an administrator sets a specific limit.

Element restoration is performed based on a snapshot of values captured at the moment of change. Records created before installing the PRO version or the standard module version do not contain snapshots, so attempting to restore them will result in an error.

When restoring a deleted element, images for the announcement and detailed description are copied automatically. Properties of type 'File' or 'Image' are not restored automatically and must be reattached manually.

Values for 'List' type properties are restored by their internal variant identifier. If a variant has been removed from the property settings, the value cannot be restored.

This limitation also applies to changes made via CIBlockElement::Add or CIBlockElement::Update bypassing the standard element update mechanism: such changes do not enter the log and cannot be restored.

The module records changes to elements made via standard methods: through the editing form in the administrative panel or programmatically using CIBlockElement::Add and CIBlockElement::Update calls. Changes to element properties made via direct calls that bypass standard element update procedures are not recorded in the journal. This is a limitation of the information block architecture, not a functional constraint of the module.
