The Block Editor module is built on the Editor.js library by the CodeX team, which is also used by projects such as VC.RU, TJ, and DTF. The core concept is a block-based architecture that outputs clean structured data. Unlike traditional editors where text is edited within a single container, here every structural element of an article is an independent block.

The core concept is a block-based architecture that outputs clean structured data. Unlike traditional editors where text is edited within a single container, here every structural element of an article is an independent block. Blocks can include paragraphs, headings, quotes, lists, images, YouTube videos, as well as properties of InfoBlock elements and sections. Upon saving, the editor returns data for each block separately. Each block type is implemented as a distinct plugin. The editor core handles user interaction with content, including selection, moving, and deleting blocks, as well as processing text pasting. Formatting tools and block settings panels are also generated by plugins. The editor is integrated into forms for adding and editing InfoBlock sections and elements; a dedicated Block Editor tab appears in the item card. In the module settings, individual plugins can be enabled or disabled and configured. Text content from the blocks is included in the search index.
The module includes basic plugins and two additional components for rendering user-defined section properties and element properties. This enables deep customization of detail pages.
IMPORTANT: Although the module can be installed on systems using either UTF-8 or CP1251, the Editor.js editor itself operates only with UTF-8. The main module version must be 23.300.100 or higher.
For “Block Editor”, General iT can perform integration, configuration and a final check after installation.
UPDATE HISTORY
Fixed article saving errors caused by corrupted block data, non-stretchable tables, and emoji usage.
Lists have been migrated to EditorjsList; nested items and checklists are now supported, along with line break preservation.
During update installation, component files are copied.
Stored XSS in tables has been fixed: recursive cell cleaning, header and data escaping upon output.
Redirects to external sites via back_url_settings have been fixed.
A list of allowed block types has been added before connecting editor.blocks component templates.
File uploads require authorization, POST requests, and CSRF tokens. Type, MIME, and size checks have been added; documents are served via a download handler. Image URL imports are restricted to HTTP and HTTPS protocols; internal addresses and redirects are prohibited.
Upload checks consider plugin_attaches_types for documents and plugin_image_types for images, including URL imports.
Form saving has been fixed: submission waits for editor readiness and completion of all block saves. Block IDs and line breaks in legacy lists are preserved; disabling embed does not disrupt editor initialization.
Alignment of long editor menu items has been fixed, and table stretching is restored after reopening.
