What this solution does

Smart Popup is a tool for creating pop-up windows with flexible display conditions. The window triggers when a user attempts to leave the site, after a set time on the page, upon reaching a specific scroll depth, after viewing a defined number of pages, or during visitor inactivity. Separate scenarios, text, and design can be configured for each site section. This allows showing relevant offers based on user behavior, such as presenting a suggestion to a blog reader who has scrolled halfway through an article or to a visitor who has spent a significant amount of time on a pricing page.

Installing third-party widgets carries risks: external scripts can slow down the site or conflict with already installed solutions. Moreover, such services typically require a monthly subscription that continues to be charged regardless of actual usage.

The 'Smart Popup' module by Abrikos eliminates these issues by operating locally without connecting to external services and without subscription fees. One solution combines five display scenarios for each rule:

Exit-Intent — triggers when a user attempts to leave the browser window.

By time — the popup appears after a specified number of seconds following page load.

By scroll — activates when a visitor scrolls to a specific percentage of the page (effective for long articles and landing pages).

By page views — the offer is shown only to users who have viewed multiple pages in a single visit, filtering out random single-page sessions.

By inactivity — the popup appears if the user does not interact with the page for a set duration.

On mobile devices where cursor movement cannot be tracked, each rule has a dedicated fallback trigger: timer, scroll, back button click, or inactivity. Display on desktop and mobile devices can be enabled or disabled independently.

Triggers can be combined with additional conditions: the popup will not appear until the visitor has opened N pages during a session and spent N seconds on the site. This filters out accidental or unengaged visits.

Each site section can have its own offer. Rules such as "catalog → first-order discount," "cart → abandoned items reminder," or "blog → newsletter subscription" are set up in a few clicks. There is no limit on the number of rules. Page targeting supports exact paths, section prefixes (e.g., /catalog/*), or regular expressions for complex scenarios.

Design is configured individually for each rule. Instead of a single template for the entire site, specific settings apply to each offer: theme, screen position (center, top, bottom, corner), entrance animation, window width, corner radius, and colors for background, text, button, and overlay. Custom CSS can be added if needed. Content can be formatted as plain text or as an HTML block with an image.

Email collection with consent for personal data processing

The popup includes a subscription form with an email field, a customizable button label, and a checkbox for consent to personal data processing. The requirement to check the box is configurable. After submission, a thank-you screen appears with custom text or redirects to a specified page.

Collected addresses are stored in the site database, accessible via a dedicated admin section, and can be exported to a CSV file with a single click. A designated staff member can receive email notifications for each new subscription.

Displayed exactly as needed

By default, the popup appears no more than once per visit. For each rule, the maximum number of displays per visit and the period "do not show again for N days" are configurable. You can inherit the module's general setting or define a specific value for a particular rule. This ensures conversion optimization without annoying returning visitors.

Why it is beneficial

The module recovers part of the traffic you have already paid for. Instead of losing a departing or "warm" visitor, you get a chance to capture their contact information.

A single tool replaces multiple separate widgets: exit-intent popups, scroll-triggered popups, landing page forms, and other scenarios are all managed from one admin panel. Each rule supports a unique offer, allowing specific configuration of logic, text, and design, which typically yields higher engagement than a universal popup for the entire site.

The module is purchased once with no monthly subscription fee, unlike most SaaS services. The popup script runs locally on your server without loading external resources, eliminating dependency on third-party uptime and avoiding extra network requests during page load.

Leads remain in your possession: all email addresses are stored in your site's database with explicit user consent for processing, ensuring compliance with 152-FZ. The script has no external dependencies, does not conflict with existing site libraries, and will not break the site if the demo period ends or the module is disabled.
