What this solution does
Product Compatibility Selector
The module enables customers to select the make, model, and modification of their equipment, after which the catalog displays only compatible items. This reduces returns due to incompatibility, lowers the workload on support staff, and increases order conversion from users searching for parts for a specific device.
The solution is effective for auto parts, tires, printer consumables, phone cases and accessories, as well as components for home and garden appliances—any scenario where products fit only specific models rather than all models.
Customer Features
A "Make — Model — Modification" filter is located above the catalog. Filter levels load dynamically without page refreshes, and the product list instantly narrows to match the selected option. Users may select only the make or model; in this case, products for all nested modifications are displayed.
Year-of-manufacture filtering is available: only models and modifications produced in the specified year remain in the results.
The selected model is saved in memory and automatically applied during subsequent visits to the site.
The "My Garage" feature allows authenticated users to save multiple vehicles or devices and switch between them with a single click. The switcher is accessible above the catalog, in the site header, and within the personal account.
The Xlogic Compatibility Product Selection module displays the 'Fits your model' badge in product lists and cards without interfering with caching or composite mode.
The product card includes a 'Fits models' block listing all compatible models with release years, installation positions, quantities (e.g., 'front axle, 2 pcs'), and selection links.
Catalog managers can use a compatibility tree up to 10 levels deep with customizable hierarchy names such as 'Brand — Model — Modification' or 'Manufacturer — Series — Printer Model'. Each tree element includes an image, description, and release years.
The system supports importing applicability tables from CSV files, including large datasets processed in chunks with a progress indicator. Missing brands and models are created automatically, while products are located by ID, external code, symbolic code, or article number. Available modes include 'Add' and 'Replace bindings', accompanied by a report listing row numbers with errors.
Synonym handling allows the import process to recognize 'Volkswagen' from 'VW' without creating duplicates. Merging duplicates into a single element requires just two clicks.
Export to CSV maintains the same format, enabling users to download data, edit it in Excel, and re-upload it.
Scheduled auto-import is supported via supplier download links or a website exchange folder, featuring a run log and error notification emails.
The Xlogic compatibility product selection module allows quick verification of functionality using demo data. In test mode, a catalog of auto parts and five brands with models are loaded; all data can be removed with a single button without affecting the user's actual products.
For promotion, a separate page is created for each model with a URL path in the format /podbor/toyota/camry/. Each page can have a unique title, meta title, and meta description set manually or applied via a single template for all pages.
A navigation breadcrumb trail is implemented as "Selection — Toyota — Camry". Requests to non-existent addresses return a 404 status code.
A sitemap file containing all selection pages is generated and updated by an agent once daily.
When managing multiple websites, each site maintains its own folder for selection pages and its own sitemap. Brands and models can be displayed only on the designated sites.
For large catalogs and integrations, a mode is available for catalogs containing tens of thousands of items. Applicability data is stored in a service property of the information block, and catalog filtering is performed using a standard condition with a faceted index, avoiding the need to process long lists of identifiers.
The caching system supports point-based invalidation: updating links triggers a cache reset only for the affected brand and the relevant product cards.
Links for trade offers are automatically transferred to the main product, and links associated with deleted products are removed.
The module generates events before and after changes to the compatibility tree and product bindings, enabling data exchange with 1C and the creation of custom handlers. REST methods are supported for integration with external systems and mobile applications. Access rights are managed by user groups. When the module is removed, compatibility data can be preserved.
The solution includes three components. The Compatibility Selection component is placed above the product list and works with standard catalog elements via a filter variable. It integrates with smart filters, sorting functions, and pagination.
The My Garage component is designed for display in the site header and the user's personal account. The Product Applicability component is displayed directly on the product card.
The administrative panel includes a section for managing the compatibility tree, product bindings, and import and export operations. This section contains settings and ready-to-use code for connecting the functionality.
For the “Product selection by compatibility” module, General iT can perform installation, configuration and a functional check in your project.
