What this solution does
The module provides full control over changes in information blocks, tracking edits to elements, sections, properties, and additional fields. The system records all structural modifications and saves object versions with a clear comparison of the state before and after changes.
This tool is designed for 1C-Bitrix sites where content is managed by editorial teams, contractors, or multiple employees. It enables immediate identification of who made changes, when they occurred, what the previous values were, and exactly which fields were edited.
Key tasks addressed by the module:
- Auditing content changes within information blocks.
- Ensuring transparency of actions by administrators and editors.
- Quickly identifying the cause of issues without speculation or lengthy correspondence.
- Controlling changes to the information block structure: properties, their mandatory status, multiplicity, and additional section fields.
- Convenient viewing of change history directly within the element or section card.
Module capabilities:
Change Log
- Maintains a general event log for all information blocks.
- Filters records by information block ID (IBLOCK_ID), element ID (ELEMENT_ID), and section ID (SECTION_ID).
- Displays date, event type, user name, and a brief description.
- Provides detailed change breakdowns showing the field, original value, and new value.
Element and Section History
- Records creation, modification, and deletion operations.
- Saves snapshots of object states.
The module records changes in information blocks and provides access to them via the 'History' tab in element and section editing forms. The system tracks structural changes: information block properties, section additional fields, and block settings. It separately tracks the addition and removal of properties and user-defined fields (UF).
The module settings allow flexible logging management. Administrators can enable change recording only for specific information blocks by specifying their IDs without displaying the full list. Separate toggles are available for each data type: elements, sections, or structure. Additional parameters allow setting limits on the number of stored versions, defining the log retention period, and performing manual log cleanup for individual information blocks.
Administrators configure the module to select objects for monitoring. Editors work in standard mode without noticing the background change tracking. All edits appear in the log and on the 'History' tab. Log entries indicate who made the change, when it occurred, and which fields were affected.
Examples of recorded events include element status changes (e.g., 'Draft' → 'Published'), modifications to section user field values, changes to information block properties (such as toggling field mandatory status), and operations to add or remove additional fields. This tool is particularly useful for online stores, catalogs, corporate portals, content sites, and projects with multiple editors.
The module is designed for teams where audit trails and clear accountability for changes are critical.
Important limitations: the solution operates exclusively within the 1C-Bitrix: Site Management environment and is not compatible with the Bitrix24 application. The installed 'Information Blocks' (iblock) module is required for operation. This tool implements version logging and auditing but does not provide one-click automatic data restoration. Changes are recorded via Bitrix API events; modifications made directly to the database bypassing the API are not logged. Access to settings and the log is restricted to administrators. Only information blocks explicitly added to the module configuration are logged.
Technical features: the module is a local PHP solution for Bitrix. Version storage and the log are maintained in dedicated database tables. Automatic cleanup of records based on retention periods is implemented, along with a limit on the maximum number of stored versions. History tabs are integrated directly into the standard element and section editing forms.
