What this solution does
The WebP image converter module automatically transforms JPG and PNG images into WebP format directly during page load. The solution requires no complex setup and begins working immediately after activation.
Conversion is performed dynamically for images, including those specified via background or background-image attributes in the HTML code. Lazyload support is available with the ability to define a custom list of attributes for image links. The module operates in composite mode and correctly handles external CDNs, such as Selectel.
For browsers that do not support the WebP format, original images are returned. The module can be disabled for specific domains, sections, or pages. Support for the srcset attribute is implemented.
The WebP format was developed specifically for web resources and provides reduced file weight compared to alternatives.
