What this solution does

Bussol SmartSearch is a module for 1C-Bitrix: Site Management that provides intelligent site search. The solution combines text and voice input, automatic correction of typos and keyboard layout errors, and optional image-based search. The system operates on selected information blocks, fields, and properties, while administrators can configure settings separately for each site.

The module reduces lost search queries by correcting mixed Cyrillic and Latin characters, fixing typos, and handling inaccurate input. Searching by article numbers and models is simplified through accounting for alphanumeric notation specifics and additional normalization of voice commands. Interaction with the catalog becomes more convenient: visitors can enter queries manually, dictate them, or upload photos to find visually similar items.

Precise search scope configuration. You independently define which information blocks, fields, and properties participate in the search. Visitors can switch the search scope between available information blocks.

Maintaining data currency is simplified: the index updates automatically when elements are added, modified, or deleted. Full reindexing is performed by a background agent.

Bussol SmartSearch capabilities

Smart text search: automatic keyboard layout correction, normalization of mixed characters, and typo-tolerant search based on trigrams and Levenshtein distance.

Search by names, descriptions, and article numbers: flexible configuration of indexable fields and symbolic property codes of information blocks, including product and model data.

Voice input: speech recognition via the browser's Web Speech API with proper handling of spoken alphanumeric designations.

Similar image search: optional comparison of images using a local perceptual hash dHash without sending images to external services.

Dynamic result updates: results refresh without page reload as the query is typed.

Search scope restriction: ability to search across all configured information blocks or within a specific selected information block.

The module supports multi-site operation within a single 1C-Bitrix installation, allowing unique search parameters to be configured for each site. Users can customize the interface appearance, including the color of the Find button, its text, and the search input field border. Output parameters are also flexible: administrators can set the number of displayed results, define the minimum query length, and enable specific operating modes.

Technical integration is implemented via the standard bussol:smartsearch component using a D7 controller. The solution is fully compatible with the site's composite mode. The module is particularly suitable for online stores to search for products by name, model, and article number, including typo correction. It is effective for spare parts and equipment catalogs where users enter complex letter-digit combinations or dictate markings via voice. The tool is also ideal for corporate websites and service catalogs, enabling search across multiple information sections simultaneously. Multi-site projects gain the ability to independently configure search zones and visual styles for each domain.

To begin, install the bussol.smartsearch module in the 1C-Bitrix administrative panel. In the left menu, navigate to the Bussol section, then select Smart Search and open Settings. Next, choose the information blocks, fields, and properties to be included in the index. The final step involves configuring voice and visual search, interface styling, and output parameters.

Run reindexing and place the bussol:smartsearch component on the required page or in the site template.

Technical requirements

The module is designed for 1C-Bitrix: Site Management. It requires PHP 8.2 or higher, the Information Blocks module, and the mbstring extension. The image search feature requires the GD extension. Voice input works in browsers supporting the Web Speech API, provided that the HTTPS protocol is used and microphone access is granted. Speech recognition availability and audio processing depend on the specific browser and its recognition service.

Version 2.0.10 includes improved security for processing uploaded images and search results, along with enhanced input data validation. The settings interface is available in the left Bussol menu via a dedicated module icon.
