Import and export of products in Excel and CSV

What this solution does

The Excel and CSV import and export module is designed for the 1C-Bitrix: Site Management system. It enables loading data from Excel and CSV files into information blocks and the trade catalog, as well as exporting this data back to Excel and CSV formats. Configuration is performed in the administrative section without programming. Exported data can be edited in Excel and re-imported to update information.

Key capabilities:

— importing price lists and supplier catalogs into information blocks and the trade catalog;

— mass updating of prices, stock levels, and properties via an export, Excel editing, and re-import cycle;

— scheduled automatic imports and exports from files on the server, via links, or from connected storage; sending results to email, storage, or Google Sheets;

— generating and exporting catalogs for partners, accounting departments, and marketplaces as ready-made Excel tables;

— pre-validation of uploaded files before writing to the site and the ability to rollback changes if errors occur.

Supported formats and sources:

— file formats XLSX, XLS (Excel 97–2003), and CSV (UTF-8 and Windows-1251 encodings, any delimiters); the format type is determined by file content rather than extension;

— support for up to 10 sheets per file in a single run; each sheet can be configured with a separate information block and its own column mapping.

Import and export of goods in Excel and CSV

Supported file sources: upload via web form, reading from a folder on the website server, working with links (including Basic authentication, public links to Yandex.Disk, Google Drive, and Google Sheets), and connecting external storage (FTP, FTPS, SFTP, Yandex.Disk, S3-compatible). For external storage, you can specify a file name or a mask; in this case, the system automatically selects the newest file.

Column mapping configuration

The file is displayed as a table where a corresponding InfoBlock field is manually selected for each column. The system can also automatically match columns based on headers. Before starting the process, a preview of data in each cell is available along with a count of potential errors. Users can select rows for processing either individually (via checkboxes) or by list with range support, for example "5, 8-12, 40-". Column settings can be saved as templates under a specific name and applied to any columns of any files.

Data loading capabilities

You can load element and section fields, including all main property types: string, number, list, HTML, date, reference, binding to elements and sections, and files. Both single and multiple properties are supported. Sections are created along the path "Section / Subsection" with automatic formation of missing levels. If the InfoBlock requires a mandatory symbolic code, it is automatically generated for sections and elements.

Import and export of goods in Excel and CSV

When loading a file, the system automatically adds missing values from lists and catalogs, such as new brands. This feature is enabled by checking a box in the import wizard. Every created value is recorded in the log. The check mode without writing allows verification of data correctness without making changes to the database.

Image and file loading is supported via links or from a specified site folder.

With the Trade Catalog module installed, the system supports importing and exporting quantities, all price types with currency, warehouse stock levels, units of measurement, barcodes, weight, dimensions, and VAT. Trade offers can be imported in a separate file or combined with goods in a single file.

Search for existing elements

Elements are searched by ID, external code, symbolic code, name, or property. A composite key consisting of three fields is supported. If a match is ambiguous, the element remains unchanged, and the corresponding row is written to the log for manual review.

Rules and transformations

Up to five sequential transformations can be configured for each column: text replacement, case conversion, adding a prefix or suffix, generating a value from a template using multiple columns, extracting a substring, table-based replacement, HTML tag removal, number rounding, markup calculation, and date parsing.

Conditional logic of the type "if ... then" is available: insert a value, clear a field, skip loading a field, or ignore the entire row. Separate rules for handling empty values can be defined for new and existing elements.

The system supports markup calculation based on price ranges, rounding to a specific step or to a value ending in "99", and currency conversion based on the current exchange rate.

Publication Management

During import, new items are created in an inactive state, while found items are activated. Item activity is determined by the presence of stock or price. For items missing from the uploaded file, actions include deactivation, resetting stock to zero, or full deletion. The system includes protection against processing truncated files. Rows that have not changed since the previous upload are skipped.

Data Security

A test run is performed without saving data to the site before the actual import. The system verifies the correctness of bindings, dictionaries, units of measurement, currencies, and parent elements for product offers. If necessary, the import can be rolled back: created items are deleted, and updated items have their previous values restored. A log with hints is maintained for each row, and a final report is generated in CSV format.

Data Export

The module supports XLSX and CSV formats with UTF-8 or Windows-1251 encoding. Files are protected against formula injection. Data can optionally be packaged into a ZIP archive. A single file can contain up to ten sheets, each with its own information block, column set, filter criteria, and sort order. Available fields include item properties, prices, stock levels, and sections. The field list supports search functionality.

Filter configuration includes condition groups: the logic "AND" applies within a group, while "OR" applies between groups. There are 12 comparison types available, and sorting can be performed on three fields. Sections are output as header rows reflecting the tree structure, with Excel row grouping. Product offers can be displayed as separate rows under the main item or as individual rows for each offer.

Import and export of goods to Excel and CSV

XLSX formatting includes a header above the table, styles for headers and sections, cell borders, automatic column width based on content, number formats, text wrapping, freezing of rows and the first column, auto-filters, and label colors.

Delivery of the ready file is possible via download, saving to the site folder, connecting to external storage (FTP, FTPS, SFTP, Yandex Disk, Google Drive, S3-compatible), sending via email with an attachment, or exporting to Google Sheets. The file name is automatically generated with the date.

Automation

Profiles allow saving settings, launching operations with one click, copying configurations, and transferring them to a JSON file without passwords. Launch is possible on a schedule via cron or Bitrix agents. The system sends notifications via email and Telegram regarding launch, success, errors, or long periods without file updates; the export file can be attached to the email. Operation history, row-level logs, and CSV reports are available.

Access rights

The module uses separate permissions and checks user access to specific information blocks. Users can work only with information blocks to which they have access.

Requirements and limitations

The following are required: "1C-Bitrix: Site Management" with the "Information Blocks" module (mandatory) and "Trade Catalog" module (for working with goods, prices, and stock levels).

The module requires PHP 8.2 or newer with the zip, xmlreader, xmlwriter, and mbstring extensions enabled. The curl extension is required for connections to storage services and downloading files via URL, while the openssl extension is needed for encrypting connection passwords.

When reading XLS files, only cell values are extracted. Formulas are interpreted as the last value saved in the file. Internal styles and images are not imported; images are loaded only via direct URL or from the site folder. Support for Excel files with macros (XLSM) and password-protected files is not available.

The default maximum file size is 50 MB. This value can be changed in the module settings. When uploading via a form, the actual limit also depends on PHP settings and the web server configuration.

The operation is performed in chunks lasting a few seconds, avoiding the max_execution_time limit. Processing speed depends on the hosting environment and the configuration of Bitrix information blocks. In a test environment, creating 100,000 elements with 26 fields took approximately 70 minutes, while re-uploading the same file without changes took about 33 minutes.

The rollback function restores created and updated element values but does not restore files and images, does not delete records in lists and catalogs created during import, and does not restore elements deleted during import. The option to save data for rollback can be disabled.

Export currently does not support Highload blocks, sections as separate entities, or the PDF format.

On a test hosting environment, exporting an XLSX file with 100,000 rows and 25 columns took approximately one minute.

Files created by the module in the site folder are accessible via direct links without authentication. When selecting the folder and export composition, this factor must be taken into account.

Uploading data to Google Sheets and Google Drive requires your own Google application and configuring access connection in the Connections section.

When running manually, the operation executes only while the wizard page remains open. For processing large files, it is more convenient to use a scheduled profile via cron: it runs on the server without the need to keep a page open.

The code contains no obfuscated parts, no third-party libraries, no additional partner modules, and no in-app purchases.

The module supports integration with Yandex Disk, Google Drive, Google Sheets, S3-compatible storage, FTP and SFTP servers, and Telegram. These services are your personal accounts and servers; their pricing plans and terms of use are determined by the respective service providers. The module does not transmit data to any third parties except for the services you have connected yourself. Proper operation requires knowledge of your information block structure; no specialized programming skills are needed.
