SEO Filter in Skyshop: Which Catalog Pages Should Be Indexed for Search

Skyshop has added landing pages and an SEO filter. I explain how to select useful characteristic combinations and avoid turning your catalog into thousands of empty pages.

"Desk lamps for reading" is a clear buyer task. "Lamps, sorted by price, second page, another toggle" is usually just the technical state of a catalog. For search purposes, these URLs should not be treated as equally valuable pages.

On September 14, 2026, Skyshop 2.0.0 for 1C-Bitrix introduced landing pages and an SEO filter. This provides a tool for targeting specific queries. However, deciding which combinations of attributes deserve a dedicated page cannot be left to a simple brute-force iteration of all possible options.

Start with clear demand

A good landing page answers a standalone question: what can be selected here, and how does this collection differ from the neighboring one? For example, outdoor lights with a specific mounting method or compact tables designed for small kitchens.

Verify buyer queries, inventory, and distinctions between categories. If two URLs display nearly identical products and differ only by word order in the title, the value of the second is questionable. Mass-creating such pages increases maintenance volume without a clear result.

For the first phase, a limited set of combinations is sufficient. Each page must have an owner, a verifiable purpose, and real products. This makes it easier to identify what works and prevents errors from spreading across the entire catalog.

Assortment matters more than long text

Visitors come to choose, so they first check product relevance to their query, prices, and availability. A brief explanation of differences helps. Several screens of general text before the products hinder access to the main content.

Verify the properties used to build the selection. If some product cards store the value "warm white" while others use a different label for the same shade, the results may be incomplete. The SEO page inherits the data quality of the catalog.

Decide in advance how to handle temporarily empty selections. Seasonal categories and permanently discontinued assortments have different goals. A universal rule to "delete everything" or "keep everything open" cannot replace an assessment of demand and expected return dates.

Check accessibility and duplicates

Developers must verify URLs, internal navigation, canonical tags, and indexing rules. However, blocking technical combinations must not accidentally hide selected useful pages. After changing settings, verify the site's actual response.

Evaluate results based on impressions for relevant queries, clicks, and subsequent actions, not on the number of created URLs. The SEO filter tool is especially valuable where it helps users immediately find the right assortment. The sheer number of pages is not a promotion strategy.
