Yandex Introduces "Reliable Business" Status: What the Badge Means for Shops and Service Sites

Yandex's new status is tied to buyer experience. I analyze the published criteria for stores and how reputation management benefits businesses even without the special badge.

On September 9, 2026, Yandex launched the "Reliable Business" status for online stores and service websites. It can appear in search results and specific ad formats. The status is based on ratings, reviews, and other signals reflecting the buyer experience, not on a company's self-declaration of reliability.

The badge helps users navigate quickly. For site owners, the more critical question is what processes underpin that reputation and why customers remain satisfied after clicking an ad.

What Has Been Published for Online Stores

Yandex requires a rating of at least 4.5 over the last 180 days, a minimum of 20 published reviews (including at least one from the past year), and no signs of review manipulation or violations of service rules. The store's status is verified in the Yandex Products dashboard under the Ratings and Reviews section.

These conditions should not be automatically applied to service websites: for them, Yandex designates Webmaster as the location where the status is displayed. Specific requirements and availability must be verified for your specific business type. Meeting visible numerical criteria does not exempt a business from other service checks.

Reputation cannot be improved solely by asking for reviews.

If a store promises next-day delivery while the item is still en route from the supplier, requesting a review does not solve the problem. First, information must be aligned across the product card, shopping cart, and with the manager. Customers evaluate the entire experience, not just a single positive screen.

It is useful to analyze recurring causes of dissatisfaction: unexpected additional charges, inaccurate stock levels, slow response times, and unclear order statuses. Each cause must have an assigned owner and a concrete fix.

How to request feedback without pressure

The right moment comes after completing a clear stage of service. It should be easy for the customer to leave an honest rating, including a negative one. Demanding maximum scores in exchange for bonuses or selecting only satisfied customers distorts feedback.

Within a company, it is important to distinguish between a request for an impression and a pushy chain of reminders. If a customer has already responded or is resolving a disputed issue, a repeated automated message can be more irritating than the original error.

Responding to a review is part of ongoing service.

A good response demonstrates that the company understands the core issue and proposes the next step. It must not devolve into a public argument or reveal order details. Details required for verification should be handled through the designated support channel.

Support teams benefit from seeing the full inquiry history and having the ability to influence the outcome. A polite template offers little help if no one takes responsibility for resolving delays or incorrect order composition.

What to measure beyond the badge appearance

Review repeat purchases, cancellation reasons, complaint resolution times, and the share of inquiries regarding known issues. These metrics help determine if the service is genuinely improving. The status itself does not guarantee higher rankings or increased sales.

Yandex's news adds another visible trust signal. The most sustainable approach is to ensure website promises are accurate and execution is predictable. Only then is positive reputation sustained by real customer experience.
